2010 Leadership Roles
Gathering Teams:
- Hospitality Team
a) To create a warm, attractive, clean, inviting environment for worship and other ministry events as needed at Lakeside including necessary refreshments.
b) Recruits volunteers and keeps volunteer schedule to supply ushers, greeters, and communion servers. (Ushers welcome, hand out bulletins, restock and clean up the supplies in each seat back, help with seating and special needs, help with communion and the offering) (Greeters set up the hospitality table, welcome people outside the doors, at the doors, and in the sanctuary, hand welcome packs to visitors, and clean up the hospitality table) (Communion servers come in before church to set up communion, help serve at a station during worship, and then clean up afterwords)
c) Makes sure there are enough supplies for desired refreshments.
- Connection Team
a) Connections coordinator helps see that new people get connected to worship, gathering groups or growing groups, and places of service.
b) Links coordinator recruits, trains, and connects friends to walk with those exploring faith, new to faith, and new Lakeside members, encouraging them to take their vows of faith, become members of the Lakeside family, and be baptized as needed.
Growing Teams:
- Worship
a) Creating an engaging, multi-sensory experience that helps people Encounter the living God.
b) Uses tools like music, prayer, bible reading, drama, sermons, commitments, etc.
c) To teach, train, inspire congregation to participate in relationship with God.
d) Works closely with the band, sound team, media, communion team, design team, and the pastor.
- Education Team
a) Teach, train, inspire seekers, new Christians, and maturing Christians to learn to live like Jesus through small groups, Bible studies, and Sunday school classes.
b) Develops study groups that focus on growing belief in Jesus Christ primarily on Wednesday nights and Sundays.
c) Works with staff on educational content and group health of Children and Youth ministries.
d) Supports men’s and women’s ministries to help them gather, grow, and sow the love of Jesus.
- Prayer and Care Team
a) Teach, train, inspire the congregation to pray for one another and care for one another.
b) Works with meal teams to give meals to people in crisis, with prayer team who prays for specific concerns, needs, joys, with Sandra Reddecliff our parish nurse, and with Stephen Ministry.
c) May work with education on health, divorce recovery, marriage enrichment, parenting, and prayer seminars.
d) Will work closely with pastor, administrator, and Kathy Miller.
Sowing Teams:
- Outreach
a) Teach, train, inspire our congregation and community to share Christ’s love in practical ways of service.
b) Strives to plan with leadership team and staff for regular (quarterly?) opportunities of hands on service locally, nationally, and internationally.
c) Works to develop awareness of service organizations currently existing in our community and seeks to develop relationships to serve our community best.
d) Can recommend ideas for use of the tithe fund.
e) Sponsors events like neighborhood barbeques, backpack giveaways, and servant evangelism opportunities that help our congregation engage the people in our community with the love of Jesus.
- Lay Leadership Development
a) Meets primarily in the fall, also anytime there is a need to discover, develop, and deploy leaders in strategic positions to help Lakeside live more fully into its mission and vision.
Support Teams:
- Trustees
a) Supports ministries of the church by maintaining, repairing, managing, and acquiring all property.
b) Develops policies for use and upkeep of all church property.
c) Works closely with administrator for day to day needs of facilities.
- Staff Parish
a) Supports ministry of LakeSide by providing for exceptional paid staff in areas of need of paid leadership.
b) Makes regular contact with staff to encourage, support, train, and evaluate to get their best effort.
c) Provides and plans for salary, insurance, retirement, and continuing education arrangements for staff.
d) Works closely with pastor to recruit new staff as necessary and release staff as necessary.
e) Evaluates staff needs of ministries of the congregation.
f) Calendar: Yearly evaluations in fall, reports in fall, training in January, other meetings as needed.
- Finance
a) Monitors the financial health of the school and church.
b) Provides a yearly budgeting process to help in the planning and provision for ministry activities.
c) Works with pastor to teach, train, and inspire tithing and second mile giving in the lives of congregants through stewardship/financial management Bible studies.
d) Works to develop multiple funding streams to support ministries of Lakeside.
e) Works with pastor for yearly stewardship teaching and invitation to underwrite the budgeted needs of the ministry.
f) Displays an attitude of “how can we get ministry to happen” as opposed to an attitude of “we don’t have the money.”
*Assumptions for all teams:
a) Pray and search scripture before decisions are made.
b) Always be looking for ways to network with other teams and with other groups in the outside community.
c) Be for one another, not against one another.
d) Pray for ministry and for each other.
e) Always be on the lookout for who your leadership replacement will be and train them.
